The ADS All-Sky Survey

چکیده
The ADS All-Sky Survey (ADSASS) is an ongoing effort aimed at turning the NASA Astrophysics Data System (ADS), widely known for its unrivaled value as a literature resource for astronomers, into a data resource. The ADS is not a data repository per se, but it implicitly contains valuable holdings of astronomical data, in the form of images, tables and object references contained within articles. The objective of the ADSASS effort is to extract these data and make them discoverable and available through existing data viewers. The resulting ADSASS data layer promises to greatly enhance workows and enable new research by tying astronomical literature and data assets into one resource.

The Two Micron All-Sky Survey: Removing the Infrared Foreground
We introduce the properties of the Two Micron All-Sky Survey (2MASS) survey for IAU Symposium 204. 2MASS is a near-infrared survey of the entire sky characterized by high reliability and completeness. Catalogs and images for 47% of the sky are now available online. This data release has been used by Wright (2000) and Cambrésy et al. (2000) to subtract the stellar foreground at 1.25 and 2.2 micr...
متن کاملNovel Methods for Predicting Photometric Redshifts from Broad Band Photometry using Virtual Sensors
We calculate photometric redshifts from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Main Galaxy Sample, The Galaxy Evolution Explorer All Sky Survey, and The Two Micron All Sky Survey using two new training–set methods. We utilize the broadband photometry from the three surveys alongside Sloan Digital Sky Survey measures of photometric quality and galaxy morphology. Our first training–set method draws from th...
متن کاملVariations in the sky brightness during a lunar eclipse
A total lunar eclipse is conjectured to have influence on the physical conditions of an environmental area, particularly on the brightness of the sky. The phenomenon might also be relevant on weather parameters change on Earth, such as temperature, humidity and pressure, though a straightforward correlation is not easy to establish. This work mainly aims at measuring the brightness of the sky a...

The hard x-ray (10-600 keV) sky is inherently time variable and yet has neither been surveyed nor been monitored with a sensitive imaging telescope. The Energetic X-ray Imaging Survey Telescope (EXIST) is a mission concept, proposed for MIDEX, which would conduct the first imaging all-sky hard x-ray survey as well as provide a sensitive all sky monitor (ASM). With ∼60% sky coverage each orbit, ...
متن کاملAn All-Sky Survey for the Detection of Transiting Extrasolar Planets and for Permanent Variable Star Tracking
An overview is given of the Permanent All Sky Survey (PASS) project. The primary goal of PASS is the detection of all transiting giant planets in the entire sky, complete for stellar systems of magnitudes ≈ 5.5 – 10.5. Since the sample stars are fairly bright and relatively close, planets detected by PASS would be ideally suited for any follow-up study with groundor space-based instrumentation....
